LIVING CONTENT
As part of the Living Content Biennial: EARTHCAKE, we designed a series of free weekly workshops that offered a playful and immersive way for children (7-8 y.o) to engage with the contemporary art in the exhibition.

The workshops were designed and led by cultural educator Irina Bălan, who created an interactive tour of the exhibition EARTHCAKE, filled with imaginative games aimed at sparking creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.
The journey began with stories about shadows, around Adrian Ganea’s work, and gently transitioned to Lito Kattou’s pieces, where kids used flashlights to explore the pieces. Next, Irina guided them through an interpretation of Nona Inescu’s “Reliquaries”, inviting the children to become “living sculptures.” Each "sculpture" was given a title, and the kids imagined the magical powers it possessed.
There was a collective reading and tasting of Jenna Sutela’s "Energy" poem—printed on edible paper. This sparked a lively discussion about energy: how it circulates, what it means, and why they could eat the poem.
The workshops always concluded with a hands-on activity inspired by Geta Brătescu’s video work “EARTHCAKE”. Using clay, earth, water, and flower seeds, the kids created “seed bombs,” drawing from the concept of Guerrilla Gardening. These biodegradable “bombs” protect seeds, giving them the chance to sprout wherever they are planted.
